We are thrilled to be hosting our first event as field house residents! Join us in celebration of World Storytelling Day on Sunday, March 22nd, 1:00-4:30pm at Renfrew Community Centre, 2929 East 22nd Ave.
This year the theme of all events is WISHES. This afternoon event will featuring a concert of great WISHING stories and music with your favourite local tellers, delicious refreshments, a silent auction of storytelling books and magical things, and a wishing well for our new Slocan Park fieldhouse!
We’d love all VSOS members to attend — and we’d love to find some new members in our community, so drop by, say hi and share in the joy of story.

World Storytelling Day
World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling, and is celebrated every year on the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere and the first day of autumn equinox in the southern, but communities often choose a good time on that weekend to have their events.
On World Storytelling Day, as many people as possible tell and listen to stories in as many languages and at as many places as possible. Participants tell each other about their events in order to share stories and inspiration, to learn from each other and create international contacts.
It was, and remains, the first global celebration of storytelling of its kind, and has been important in forging links between storytellers often working far apart from each other. It has also been significant in drawing public and media attention to storytelling as an art form.
Join us as we co-create a wondrous event in sync with tellers and listeners around the world in festivals, living rooms, cafes, theatres and parks.
